Luna
The Heart and Soul of Sunrise 85 FM
Some people collect records. Others collect memories of songs they once heard on a warm evening with the windows rolled down. Luna does both. She showed up one day at the Sunrise 85 FM studio, sat behind the console like she had always been there, and pressed play. That was it. The station had a voice.
Red hair that catches every spotlight, freckles she wears like constellations, and an instinct for picking the exact track you did not know you needed. She does not follow playlists. She reads the room, even when the room is the entire internet.
Where did she come from? Depends on who you ask. Some say she stepped out of a Miami sunset in 1985 and never looked back. Others swear they spotted her on the Rimini seafront, dancing barefoot on the promenade at four in the morning. She just laughs and changes the song.
The best songs don't end when the music stops. They echo in the space between who you were and who you're becoming.
Luna, sometime around dawn
Off the air, Luna is restless in the best possible way. She rides motorcycles down coastal highways lined with palm trees. She finds the one diner in town that still has a jukebox and a neon sign flickering above the counter. She sits on park benches wearing oversized sunglasses and a Sunrise 85 FM cap, letting the afternoon fold into evening while a track plays in her head on repeat.
She treats every track like a letter written to someone specific. A bassline for the night shift worker driving home at 3 AM. A synth riff for the couple slow dancing in their kitchen. A drum fill for the kid who just discovered that music made before they were born can feel brand new. Luna does not just play songs. She delivers moments.
Every neon sign is just a love letter written in light. You only have to stop long enough to read it.
Luna, 1986
The thing about Luna is that she does not try to explain the 80s. She does not give you a history lesson or name drop producers. She makes you feel it. The warmth of analog synthesizers. The optimism baked into every four on the floor beat. The feeling that somewhere, right now, a dance floor is waiting for you and the lights are already on.
Without her, Sunrise 85 FM would be frequencies and waveforms. With her, it becomes a feeling you carry long after you close the tab. She is the reason you press play at midnight and suddenly it is 2 AM and you are smiling at nothing in particular. She is the soundtrack to the drive you have not taken yet, the summer you are still planning, the dance floor you will find eventually.
If you can hear the ocean in a seashell, you can hear a whole decade in the right song.
